Adopt a Golden
***Important Note: We are currently not accepting new application requests. We have a large group of approved applicants and have not had many Goldens available for adoption. Stay tuned for updates!***
Thank you for considering adopting a rescue Golden! Goldens are wonderful dogs that are a great addition to most families! If you are in the position to welcome a Golden into your family, please fill out our pre-application. We accept pre-applications on the 1st-3rd of every month; pre-applications submitted on other dates will not be accepted. We suggest reading through general outline of our the adoption process below so that you are familiar with how our organization works. Please note that it is rare that we get puppies under 6 months of age, and we do not have a waiting list.
Adoption Process
We have Goldens in foster homes throughout the State of Michigan; we do not have a facility in Grand Rapids. Once you fill out the pre-application, you will be sent a detailed form with our entire adoption process. Once you read that and decide if you would like to move forward, you will have to pay the application fee, per the instructions you receive. After those two steps are complete, you will be given a password to our online application. You can then complete the online application and once it is received, it will be assigned to an interviewer. The interviewer will check vet references and contact you to set up an interview. If your application is approved, the interviewer will send you a roster of our available Goldens via e-mail. Great Lakes does not post most of our available Goldens on this website or Petfinder. We first offer available Goldens to our approved applicants.
For more information on our adoption process and policies, be sure to check out our Adoption FAQ page.
Adoption Fees
Goldens from 7 month to 7 years old have an adoption fee of $350. Goldens that are aged 8 years and older are $200. When you adopt a Golden from Great Lakes your Golden will have been spayed or neutered, up to date on necessary vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm tested, fecal checked and looked over by a vet.
